Chapter 4

Prayer

1. Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
2. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in His only begotten Son.
3. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in His only begotten Son.
4. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us
5. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer in the name of Gods only begotten Son, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
6. Call on Christ and come and pray to God, and He will listen to you.
7. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.
8. Call to God and God will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
9. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
10. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
11. When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
12. When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
13. When you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
14. When you ask, you ask in the name Jesus Christ, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
15. Pray for those who mistreat you.
16. Bless those who bless you.
17. When you pray, pray like this:
18. “Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
19. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
20. The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.
