Matthew 25:14-30
Parable of the Talents
“For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey. Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents. In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more. But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
“Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them. The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’
“Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, ‘Master, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more talents.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’
“And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’
“But his master answered and said to him, ‘You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed. Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest. Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.’
“For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away. Throw out the worthless slave into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

“Verder gaan dit soos met ‘n man wat op reis wou gaan. Hy het sy slawe bymekaargeroep en sy besittings aan hulle toevertrou. Vir een het hy vyf goue muntstukke gegee, vir ‘n ander twee, en vir ‘n derde een. Hy het aan elkeen volgens sy bekwaamheid gegee en toe op reis gegaan.
“Die een wat vyf goue muntstukke ontvang het, het dadelik daarmee gaan werk en ‘n wins gemaak van nog vyf. So ook die een wat twee gekry het: hy het ‘n wins gemaak van nog twee. Maar die slaaf wat een gekry het, het ‘n gat in die grond gaan grawe en sy eienaar se geld daarin weggesteek.
“Na ‘n lang tyd het die eienaar van daardie slawe teruggekom en van hulle rekenskap gevra. Die een wat vyf goue muntstukke ontvang het, kom toe en bring die ander vyf saam, en sê: ‘Meneer, vyf goue muntstukke het u aan my toevertrou. Hier is dit met vyf ander wat ek wins gemaak het.’ Toe sê sy eienaar vir hom: ‘Mooi so! Jy is ‘n goeie en getroue slaaf. Oor min was jy getrou, oor baie sal ek jou aanstel. Kom in en deel in my vreugde!’
“Toe kom die een met die twee goue muntstukke en sê: ‘Meneer, twee goue muntstukke het u aan my toevertrou. Hier is dit met twee ander wat ek wins gemaak het.’ Sy eienaar sê toe vir hom: ‘Mooi so! Jy is ‘n goeie en getroue slaaf. Oor min was jy getrou, oor baie sal ek jou aanstel. Kom in en deel in my vreugde!’
“Toe kom die een wat een goue muntstuk ontvang het, en sê: ‘Meneer, ek ken u en weet dat u ‘n harde man is, wat oes waar u nie gesaai het nie, en pluk waar u nie geplant het nie. Omdat ek bang was, het ek u muntstuk in die grond gaan begrawe. Hier het u u geld terug.’ Toe sê sy eienaar vir hom: ‘Jy is ‘n slegte en ‘n lui slaaf! Jy het geweet dat ek oes waar ek nie gesaai het nie, en pluk waar ek nie geplant het nie. Dan moes jy my geld in die bank gesit het, en ek sou dit by my koms met rente teruggekry het. Vat die muntstuk van hom af weg en gee dit aan die een wat die tien het. Aan elkeen wat het, sal meer gegee word, en hy sal oorvloed hê; maar van hom wat nie het nie, sal ook die bietjie wat hy het, weggevat word. En gooi die nuttelose slaaf uit in die diepste duisternis daarbuite. Daar sal hulle huil en op hulle tande kners.’ ”

All whom gives themselves to the Father and accept the gospel of our Savior in their heart, receives spiritual gifts, some receive only one while others may receive more. Those whom develop there gifts will receive more, those whom ignore their gifts will lose what ever gift they have received.

The lord gives all of his followers tasks to complete, some of us will receive a single small seemingly insignificant task to complete, while others may receive multiple large tasks to complete. If you deny your Father over and over again, will he not also deny you?
