John 15:4-6
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch, and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Every true Christian has 2 spirits living in them, one is their own soul and one is a portion of the Holy Ghost which you invite to live with in you. The portion of the Holy Ghost whom lives in you gives you a gift according to Gods will. This can ranch between the gifts of healing, prophesy, worship, love, caring, leadership, consoling, miracles, knowledge, inside, interpretation, understanding, messenger, tongues and the fear of God.

The messenger spoken of in Malachi 3:1 was John the Baptism; he received a portion of the Holy Ghost referred to as the spirit of Elijah. This spirit is a powerful portion of the Holy Ghost and not the soul of Elijah. The physical body of Elijah and his own soul still lives in heaven today since he was raptured alive and never died.

John the Baptist, Zerubbabel, Elisha and Elijah all contained the same spirit; the spirit of Elijah. The spirit of Elijah will return again in the end times before Jesus returns, to turn the hearts of the children to their fathers, to unify the church and to restore all things. His primary mission will be to prepare the children of the woman mentioned in revelations 12 for the return of Christ.
